Strategic Plan

The 2015-2017 Strategic Goals are:

  • Educate agency decision makers
  • Proactively grow Greenroads core programs
  • Preserve and enhance the international credibility of the Rating System
  • Cultivate a network of sustainable transport professionals

In 2016, we created three core committees of the Board of Directors to help care for, oversee, and deliver these strategic goals throughout our organization and to mirror positions on our operations staff. They are:

  • Advocacy & Outreach
  • Finance & Administration
  • Planning & Governance

IRS Tax Reporting

In 2015, Greenroads switched from accrual to cash basis accounting, and performed an internal audit of 5 years of financial records as part of a software upgrade so that all of our historical IRS forms matched between years. We resubmitted all Form 990s (except the e-postcard from our first partial year in 2010) in August 2015. State tax reporting and state charity records were also included in the update process.

Greenroads filed for IRS 501(c)(3) status in early January 2011 and was approved, and we also are an registered charity in Washington State. We are a non-profit corporation, as noted on our Form W9 (for setting up Greenroads as a vendor or donee), and our records are open for public inspection (posted below).

We pay the following taxes (records available on request):

  • Federal Payroll Tax (Form 941) - filed and prepared by a third party payroll organization
  • Washington State Business & Operation Taxes (membership dues and donations are exempt)
  • Washington State Sales Tax (when applicable for products like publications, and on purchases we make)
  • Washington L&I (unemployment insurance)
