Smart owners know that going green saves money. So far, all Certified Greenroads projects have come in at or below budget and no project's costs have increased specifically because of choices made to participate in Greenroads. Here are just a few examples:
On their Hacienda Avenue Project, the City of Campbell, California, saved 50 percent of lifetime costs for construction — enough to build the same road twice! The federally funded project earned a Greenroads Silver Rating.
City of Bothell and WSDOT Local Programs saved 37 percent on maintenance costs, investing with the future in mind and stretching that dollar twice as long. Double the lifetime and 19 percent savings overall.
City of San Jose, California saved 23 percent over conventional alternatives on a two-mile road. That's enough to pave half a mile somewhere else!
City of Kirkland, WA saved about $4000 using warm-mix asphalt. Kirkland earned the highest rating to date on any project and is federal, state and city funded.
City of Tacoma, WA saved 80 percent of stormwater management costs with low impact development on one of their projects. Check out other reasons they rely on Greenroads for their street infrastructure.
City of Bellingham saved 78 percent on stormwater management costs upfront retrofitting CBD streets for less than $1 milion, and the system will cost half as much over its lifetime. Listen to a podcast about other Bellingham projects.
