Help for the Greenroads Online Project Tool

Welcome to the online Greenroads project review tool. This tool allows project teams to go through the entire Greenroads certification process online. That means teams can register their project, designate Greenroads credits they are pursuing, upload required documentation and converse online with their assigned Greenroads project reviewer.

This set of instructions is for using this online tool. If you want to see how Greenroads works take a look at the manual and read the introduction section.

Here are some basic instructions on how to use this tool:

Screen Layout

The tool is designed so that you do your work on the center white area of the screen and the essential navigation features are around this portion in colors of orange, green and blue. These navigation features will always remain onscreen while the white center portion of the screen will change depending upon what you want to do.

Credit menu. The credit menu is used to navigate between credits. It is located in the upper left of the web page in an orange box. You can click on any category to get a list of credits in that category. Click on the credit title to open up that credit.

Scoreboard. The scoreboard on the right side of the page in green keeps track of the points a project has the potential to earn. This scoreboard is a preliminary view only – no score is final or official until final approval by the Greenroads reviewer. Even so, this scoreboard provides a quick summary of where your project stands and can be helpful.

Projects area. Once you log in the lower right of the page should show a list of projects you are associated with in the blue box. The active one (the one you are looking at) is highlighted by a small orange tick mark. You can switch between active projects by clicking on the desired project.

Getting Started

Provide your basic project information. Use the project links in the lower right of the webpage to access your Project Information section. This section of the tool allows you to fill in a project description, upload essential project documents, provide comments for other project team members or the Greenroads reviewer to see, and assign people to your project in a variety of roles.

  • Project description. Enter the basic descriptive elements of your project.
  • Documentation. Upload the basic project documents to include plans, specifications, environmental assessment, stormwater/drainage/hydraulic report, etc.
  • Comments. Place for the project team and the Greenroads reviewer(s) to have an online conversation.
  • People. Where the project manager can add/remove project team people (those who have access to this tool) and change their permission level.
  • Review. Shows the current status of the project in terms of the Greenroads review.

Pursuing Credits

This section describes how to choose the credits your project wishes to pursue and enter the required information.

Understanding the intent and requirements of a credit. It is best to look at the full credit in the form of a PDF, available for download in the Credit tab. Alternatively, all credits are listed in the Greenroads Manual, which can be downloaded here.

Entering information about a specific credit. Select that credit from the credit menu. This will take you to a page with several tabs related to that credit. These tabs are:

  • Credit. Lists the goal of the credit and requirements for achieving it. Also, you can download a PDF of the credit.
  • Requirements. A series of questions to be answered by the project team. These questions help the project team determine the number of points the project is eligible for based on the credit requirements. The tool uses information from this tab to help calculate the total points earned for the project.
  • Documentation. Provides a location for the project team to provide the required evidence that the credit requirements are met. This can be In the form of reference to standard documents (e.g., plans and specs), uploads of specific documents or links to other web addresses that contain the needed documentation.
  • Comments. An area where the project team can have a 2-way conversation with the Greenroads reviewer(s). This allows questions to be asked/answered, clarifications to be made and additional information to be provided.

Questions about credits, interpretations, requirements, etc. These are best handled through the individual credit Comments tab. This tab is the location where the project team and Greenroads reviewer(s) can have a conversation.
