CC-2: Freight Access

1-5 point

Goal

Increase the mobility and decrease the environmental impact of freight movement by improving traffic flow and accessibility in critical freight corridors.

Requirements

Achieve the Context Sensitive Solutions (Project) credit and, within the CSS documentation, describe the need, purpose and appropriateness for planned, new, or upgraded freight facilities. The CSS document must demonstrate that the project is located in a freight corridor or is a roadway that provides freight access. Table 1 below shows the point criteria for this credit.

Implement one or more of the features below. If roadways have more than one feature, the points shall be added for a point total of no more than 5 points. In all cases, features for Freight Access must appear on the project budget or schedule of costs.

Documentation

Copy of the section that focuses on freight facilities in the Context Sensitive Solutions (Project) white paper. This section should address:

  1. Purpose and need for freight access on the roadway project
  2. Regulatory, jurisdictional, or relevant design standards addressed, if any
  3. Results of public input on proposed freight upgrades or installations, if any
  4. Total cost associated with new or improved freight facilities
  5. Contract specifications and budget items addressing freight facilities.
  6. Where applicable, provide plans and specifications showing design elements (i.e. turning radii, load and height restrictions, number of parking stalls or loading docks).
